Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire lies in that quiet part of Montreal's West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word generally believe that it's an separate island somewhere west from Montreal, but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there as well. She only was there for a brief period. Brugel grew in Courtice just outside Oshawa. Her first ambition was to become a professional dancer however, a rapid growth rate meant that she was able to outgrow the dancers she was with. She acknowledged in a piece released by the Toronto Star that she was 6'1" tall while wearing heels. As I grew older than my male partners I became a bit too big and quit. The majority of dancers who have been ex-dancers now turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school who pushed her to take a step in the appropriate direction. It was suggested that she try out for roles in the school's production. She tried it out and was cast as the lead woman in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Award at York University led her to the Theatre Program that she attended until 2000, with a bachelor's fine arts degree.
